One of the main things we do @ jteam is creating rock solid custom development. Of course we use proven frameworks, we keep innovating and we use a lot of the best practices for custom software development. Best practices I am talking about are: Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, Peer reviews and of course Scrum. I guess I could use more buzz words in there, but that is not the scope for this item. So I am not going to talk about cloud, soa, virtualisation to name a few. This post is about why DDD is a match made in heaven with custom development.

Cool iPhone / Android WordPress plugin
September 8th, 2009 by Bram Smeets(http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/09/08/cool-iphone-android-wordpress-plugin/)
We just installed a nice WordPress plugin that displays our blog post in a much more mobile-friendly manner (both visually and in terms of bandwidth). Check it out on your iPhone or Android phone or check out the screenshot if you don’t have one. Kudos to Jettro for telling me about this plugin.
You can install the plugin directly from WordPress by searching for: WPtouch iPhone Theme

JTeam Technology Matrix: The Stars
September 7th, 2009 by Bram Smeets(http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/09/07/jteam-technology-matrix-the-stars/)
In Alef’s previous blog entry about the JTeam Technology Matrix, he explained the basic idea of using a BCG-matrix to classify technologies. In this blog entry I’ll focus on the ‘Star’ section of our current matrix and highlight some of the technologies that are currently in there. Star technologies are the technologies that bring us added value in the projects that we do, but are also cool and innovative to use. Please keep in mind that the content of the matrix is under constant discussion and is subject to change. This overview should therefore be considered a snapshot of today’s matrix.

Project: welke.nl
July 23rd, 2009 by Allard Buijze(http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/07/23/project-welke-nl/)
The Welke Magazine has been around for a while now and is a well-established name in the home decoration area. To follow up on the success of their paper version, MediaMij –the company publishing these magazines– decided to expand their position in the market by launching an electronic version, welke.nl. The goal of this website was to give their readers a more interactive experience and allow them to find more products that could be of interest in an intuitive manner.
In this post, I will focus on some technical and organizational topics that were addressed during the project. Read the rest of this entry »

When: Tuesday August 18th, starting from 16:00 to 20:00
Where: JTeam HQ, Frederiksplein 1, 1017 XK Amsterdam
We like to keep in informal, so no dresscode or whatsoever. The only thing required is to sign up by sending an email to bbq at jteam dot nl. Please let me remind you that parking near JTeam is terrible and expensive. So act wise and use public transportation.
Love to see you at our BBQ and having some food, drinks and cool conversations with us!

Search Symposium – different perspectives on search
July 13th, 2009 by Bram Smeets(http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/07/13/search-symposium-different-perspectives-on-search/)
Last week (July 1st) JTeam hosted its first Search Symposium at our office at Frederiksplein 1, Amsterdam. The idea of the symposium was to get people together with different perspectives on search and discuss their experiences. The meeting was hosted by Adriaan Bloem (Analyst for CMS Watch) and Edwin Adriaansen (CTO from iLocal). They both presented their take on search, where Adriaan focused more on the search market, different vendors and the open source alternatives and Edwin provided insight into the rationale and findings of doing a large-scale search implementation.

Project: Paazl, offers choice in shipment
July 9th, 2009 by Rob van Maris(http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/07/09/project-paazl-offers-choice-in-shipment/)
JTeam is proud to announce the release of Paazl, one of the projects that we have been working on recently.
Paazl offers a solution to the growing demand for choice when it comes to shipping. The platform JTeam developed allows Paazl customers (mostly webshop owners) to offer a range of options in shipment to their customers in a very easy way. Basically distributors offer a number of shipping options, like the time of day to deliver and whether to deliver to the door or to a service center where you then can collect your shipment. Of course all of these options come at a price. But right now, almost no webshop offers the full flexibility in shipping that they could offer to their customer. This is where Paazl comes in…

A perspective on content management
May 19th, 2009 by Jettro Coenradie(http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/05/19/a-perspective-on-content-management/)
For more than a year I am working with the Hippo CMS. I started with hippo 6. For the project OnsOranje, I created a springframework layer on top of hippo. This layer enabled us to create a website using the techniques we are familiar with (spring mvc). After the onsoranje project, my interest for content management was rising. At that moment I started using the new Hippo CMS 7. It is this version that we use at my current project as well. While using hippo for the projects, we also created our own website using magnolia. After a presentation about JackRabbit, Erik pointed me to yet another CMS called Brix. Based on these choices and some evaluations I did of other CMS systems, I wanted to make a choice for the CMS. I concluded that the best CMS does not exist, you can try to make the best choice for a CMS for your requirements. That is what this blog post is about.
Java Meetup June 5th – IMPORTANT CHANGES & RSVP
May 18th, 2009 by Alef Arendsen(http://blog.jteam.nl/2009/05/18/java-meetup-june-5th-important-changes-rsvp/)
Last few times we organized the Java Meetup there was just beer and talks. This time, it’s going to be a little bit different. When I ran into the Trifork folks at SpringOne a few weeks ago, Iben (one of the girls from Trifork) suggested we do a few presentations. She’d love to come to Amsterdam to see what the Java crowd is like here and to get some input on their various conferences around the world (JAOO, InfoQ, et cetera).
